Kurt Tucholsky


Kurt Tucholsky was a GermanJewish journalist, satirist and writer. He also wrote under the pseudonyms Kaspar Hauser, Peter Panter, Theobald Tiger and Ignaz Wrobel. Born in BerlinMoabit, he moved to Paris in 1924 and then to Sweden in 1930.

Kurt Tucholskys parents house, where he was born on January 9, 1890, was atLbecker Strae in BerlinMoabit. However, he spent his early childhood in Stettin where his father had been transferred for work reasons. The Jewish bank cashier Alex Tucholsky had married his cousin Doris Tucholski in 1887 and had three children with her Kurt, their oldest son, Fritz and Ellen. In 1899, the family returned to Berlin.
